The Baltimore Ravens running backs had an average year. Here are our grades for their performance during the 2015 season.

2015 Grades: QB | RB | WR | TE | OL | DL |

The running game has historically been the Baltimore Ravens most effective weapon on offense. However, the play of the running backs this season is not what we expect from this team.

The Ravens had four players get the majority of the touches out of the backfield: Justin Forsett, Javorius Allen, Terrance West and Kyle Juszczyk. No one ran away with the great numbers rushing the football and that is a major reason why the offense was non-existent most of the season.

Baltimore has been known as a team that uses the run to set up the pass. It was more important that this team got the ground game going because of the lack of depth at receiver. Instead, the Ravens never seemed to get their running backs into a rhythm. Trailing in many games did not necessarily help the Ravens establish the run, but few thought it would be so ineffective.

More from Baltimore Ravens

Marc Trestman has a track record of using his running backs as receivers, which is something we did see this year. Ravens running backs caught 127 of the 426 receptions, nearly 30 percent of the pass completed on the season. Two backs (Allen and Juszczyk) finished with over 40 each and Forsett wasn’t too far behind with 31 receptions. Those numbers should remain the same throughout Trestman’s tenure in Baltimore.

In all, the Ravens running backs had an average year, which reflects most of the grades going forward. Baltimore is blessed to have a group that are all capable of playing in the NFL, but could really use one to step up and take over as the lead man going forward.
