The Baltimore Ravens did not have many players to be satisfied with on offense this season, but the tight end position shows some promise moving forward.

2015 Grades: QB | RB | WR | TE | OL | DL |

The one position we were not sure what to expect from entering the season was this group. The trio of tight ends are all 24 or younger and had one year of experience combined. Ozzie Newsome, a former tight end himself, had faith in the youngsters and it paid dividends for the Ravens.

Crockett Gillmore and two rookies, Maxx Williams and Nick Boyle, combined for nearly 20 percent of the Ravens receiving yards (833) and receptions (83) on the season. All three guys were effective most of the season and performed better than we expected from first and second-year players.

There is always some bad with the good. Gillmore battled injuries for a good portion of the season. Williams would make tough catches, but also had his share of drops. The biggest disappointment was Boyle’s suspension for use of performance-enhancing drugs at a time when the group needed him because of injuries.

Joe Flacco has always favored throwing to his tight ends as he developed a connection with Dennis Pitta. It will take some time for him to developed that chemistry with this young group, but each has the potential to make plays in the Ravens offense. The tight ends go down with the highest grades for every position this season. This bunch has the highest potential moving forward and figures to get better with time.
