Gillmore was the only tight end left over from last season and proved to be the best of the trio. He earned the right to be the starter in the preseason and has made big strides since his rookie campaign.

He was nearly unstoppable in the loss to the Oakland Raiders, scoring two touchdowns. On one of the scores, he bounced off several would-be tacklers before barreling his way into the end zone. It was then that we knew that Gillmore had the toughness to make it in the league.

There was a four-game stretch in which Gillmore made play after play. The second-year tight end caught 16 passes for 204 yards and two touchdowns, including his first 100-yard effort in the win over the St. Louis Rams. He also finished with the second-most touchdowns on the team.

Injuries would cause Gillmore to miss six games on the season and he was eventually placed on IR with a back injury. He also missed two games earlier in the season with a calf problem. There is little reason to believe that he will not be ready when camps come around.

Many NFL teams have incorporated two tight end sets and the Ravens are one of them. Gillmore does have some improvements to make to get into the next tier of tight ends, but he has shown that he is capable of being a weapon in this offense.
