The teams of the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MJCAC) just started their season. At this point they are mainly playing non-conference games and holiday tournaments. The conference slate will start with a few games in December and then go full-bore in January.

In my preseason preview article I predicted the CCBC / Dundalk men’s team as my pick to win the conference. So far they are 4-3 with tough losses to Cape Fear Community College, Richard Bland College and rival Howard.

Garrett so far has been the most impressive as they are 6-0 with wins over WVU Parkersburg and Westmoreland County Community College.

Harford has been a nice surprise as they have started out 5-2 with wins over Globe Institute of Technology and Burlington County College.

The women’s teams have also started their season. I picked Harford to win the conference title. The Fighting Owls are 4-2 with dominating wins over teams such as Delaware County Community College and Northern Virginia Community College. Their two losses have been against strong opponents in Hillsborough Community College and Monroe College.

It is no surprise when Chesapeake College plays well in the regular season. They are 5-0 with nice wins over Community College of Rhode Island and Tidewater Community College.

Some other nice records so far are Allegany (4-2), Montgomery (5-2) and Garrett (5-2). Cecil College has not played a game yet and may not be a fielding a team this year.
