3. San Fransico Giants

The darkhorse team to gain Adam Jones ahead of the July 31 MLB trade deadline is the San Fransico Giants who are on the outside looking in terms of the NL wild card race.

The Giants at 52-51 currently occupy fourth place in the NL West division but are a close four and 1/2 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers and closely trail the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies in the division. In terms of the wild card, the Giants are four and 1/2 games behind the Atlanta Braves for the final playoff spot.

Jones could join another All-Star outfielder and former center fielder of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Andrew McCutchen, in the Giants outfield. Despite the Giants being on the outside of the NL postseason race, Jones is a California native and could return home to help the Giants reach the playoffs.

The Giants could use an upgrade in the outfield with Steven Duggar currently hitting .261 with no home runs as the starting center fielder. Nightengale’s tweet including the Baltimore Orioles trade rumor of Jones trade interest states the Giants will need financial help in order to acquire Jones via trade.
