2. Cleveland Indians

Another top contender right up there with the Phillies to add Orioles five-time All-Star Adam Jones is the Cleveland Indians, per Jon Morosi of MLB.com.

As the AL Central division leader, the Indians could be a destination Jones approves, leading to waiving his no-trade clause. At 55-46, the Indians own a lengthy lead atop of the AL Central as they’re seven and 1/2 games ahead of the below .500 Minnesota Twins. In a weak division, the Indians are the clear favorites to capture third consecutive AL Central title, putting them right in the conversation as World Series contenders.

The Indians made a similar move last year to increase their chances in the playoffs by adding Jay Bruce as a rental piece. The move resulted in the Indians trading prospect pitcher Ryder Ryan.

Despite not being in the latest MLB Pipeline’s Top 30 New York Mets prospects, Ryan has a 2.01 ERA through 40 and 1/3 innings in the minors this season. The Orioles could possibly gain another valuable pitching prospect to bolster their rebuild.

Not to mention, the Indians are in need of outfield help with outfielders Bradley Zimmer and Lonnie Chisenhall suffering injuries. Watch for the Indians to make a strong push for Jones in the coming days.
