The Baltimore Ravens seem like they have drafted Joe Flacco‘s replacement at Quarterback.

The Baltimore Ravens trading back into the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft was a little shocking for fans, but it happened. Waking up to hear the news of Lamar Jackson baffled me for a little.

Could Ozzie Newsome have waited a little bit longer to draft Lamar Jackson instead of giving up a second round pick? I’m thinking Newsome could’ve traded up in the second round for Jackson unless he heard rumors of another team trying to get him.

We know that the Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns weren’t going to draft him heading into the second round. I guess Newsome was worried about the New York Giants drafting Jackson.

More from Baltimore Ravens

Ozzie covets draft picks and he normally hits on picks two-six so it was a shocker to see him trade away a second-round pick in the second round only minutes away. A lot of experts have praised the Baltimore Ravens for their first round picks, so hopefully, they will hit on those picks.

I’m curious to see how Jackson will fare in the NFL. He’s a Michael Vick type player. He’s an explosive player that relies on his legs to make plays.

It’s good to know that the Ravens have the coaching staff that has worked with QBs like Donovan McNabb, Michael Vick, and Colin Kaepernick. They’ve all had success in the league at some point.

Hopefully, Ozzie can make another trade tonight to get back into the second round to finally draft a wide receiver. If that happens, then you can definitely call this a success for Ozzie Newsome in his last NFL Draft as the Baltimore Ravens General Manager.

Do you think the Baltimore Ravens could’ve waited a little longer in order to trade down to draft Lamar Jackson?
