The Baltimore Ravens have sent a two-year, $10.4 million offer sheet to New Orleans Saints wide receiver Willie Snead.

The Baltimore Ravens have sent a two-year, $10.4 million offer sheet to New Orleans Saints restricted free agent wide receiver Willie Snead. The Saints have five days to match the offer, otherwise, Snead will join the Baltimore Ravens.

This move sets the Baltimore Ravens up for a potentially better offense than the one they had in 2017. The only receivers that are on the Ravens roster from that 2017 team are Breshad Perriman and Chris Moore. Willie Snead will probably play in the slot, though he can also help in the return game.

More from Baltimore Ravens

The 5’11″ receiver had a down year in 2017 with the Saints, but put up great numbers in 2016 with Drew Brees throwing him the ball. In 2016, Snead caught 72 balls for 895 yards and four touchdowns.

What this also means for the Baltimore Ravens is that they can focus on drafting someone to help out the offensive line. They can also draft receivers in the middle to late rounds so they don’t run the risk of wasting a high draft pick on another bust like Breshad Perriman.

If the New Orleans Saints don’t match the offer from the Ravens, then the Ravens have probably the best offensive weapons in the 10-year career of Joe Flacco. This is a make or break year for him.

Ozzie Newsome has done what he can to improve the offensive talent around Flacco, so that can’t be an excuse anymore. I’m hoping this is a breakout year for everyone on offense.

What Snead brings to the Ravens is another veteran receiver who can make the tough catches and will help move the chains and will keep the defense honest. The best way to keep a defense from getting pressure is to have balance and the Ravens should have that now on offense.
