8. Scott McGregor – 904 career strikeouts

Scott McGregor was one of those rare types that spends his entire career with one team, staying with the Baltimore Orioles from 1976 to 1988. Now, originally he was in the New York Yankees organization, but never made it to the majors and was part of a huge 10-player trade that we named the fifth-best trade in Orioles history.

In that trade, the Orioles sent Doyle AlexanderElrod HendricksGrant JacksonJimmy Freeman, and Ken Holtzman to the Yankees for McGregor, Rick DempseyTippy MartinezDave Pagan, and Rudy May.

McGregor went to an All-Star game in 1981, won 20 games for the Orioles in 1980, and had a fantastic couple of postseasons, especially in the Orioles World Series year of 1983. He only allowed two runs in the ALCS and World Series openers that year, and pitched a complete game shutout against the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 5 of the World Series.
