The Baltimore Ravens are interested in signing cornerback Morris Claiborne. Claiborne last played for the Dallas Cowboys.

The Baltimore Ravens are looking to strengthen their secondary this offseason, and one player they’re interested in signing is cornerback Morris Claiborne, according to Matt Miller on Twitter.

The team signed safety Tony Jefferson last night, and is still looking to sure up their secondary, as it was one of the weaker aspects of their offense last season.

Claiborne was considered one of the best available corners in the 2012 NFL Draft, where he was picked sixth overall. His career in the NFL made him start to look like a major draft bust, as poor play and injuries somewhat derailed his career.

More from Baltimore Ravens

In his rookie season, Claiborne missed minicamp as he was recovering from a surgically-repaired wrist. He suffered a series of minor injuries during his rookie season and ended the year with only 55 tackles and one interception.

His second season was similarly rough, as he sprained his knee in the preseason, then was passed on the Cowboys depth chart while also dealing with a hamstring injury and the death of his father.

He then suffered an AC joint separation and knee tendinitis in the 2014 preseason, and then tore his left patellar tendon towards the end of the season.

Needless to say, Claiborne has faced adversity in his career, and injuries forced him to miss more than half of the 2016 season, but in the seven games that he did play, he began to establish himself as one of the better corners in the league, and finished the season as Pro Football Focus’s 12th best cornerback in the NFL.

If Claiborne can keep up his good play from last season and stay healthy all year, he could be an excellent addition to the Baltimore Ravens secondary, and help sure up a secondary that could really use the help.
