Throughout the past couple of weeks, the Baltimore Orioles expressed interest in outfielder Josh Reddick, but according to Yahoo Sports’ Jeff Passan, the Houston Astros and Reddick have agreed to a four-year deal worth $52 million. With Reddick out of the picture, the Orioles should turn their attention towards one of the elite outfielders in the game, Yoenis Cespedes.

Cespedes has reemerged into the free agent market after electing to opt out of his remaining two years of his contract worth $47.5 million with the New York Mets. Before Orioles re-signed first baseman Chris Davis to a colossal seven-year deal worth $161 million last offseason, the Orioles presented Cespedes with a five-year deal according to MLB Network’s Insider Jon Heyman. Many believe the Orioles offer to Cespedes was an attempt to lure and speed up Davis’ long-awaited decision to re-join the O’s.

Fresh off an All-Star season, the 31-year-old outfielder posted a batting average of .280 with 31 home runs and 86 RBIs last season with the Mets. Although Cespedes may be too expensive to Duquette’s taste, the slugger would help fulfill the void in the Orioles outfield, especially if Trumbo doesn’t return.
