Then there is Tyler Wilson. Wilson actually had a better year than Wright, although that isn’t saying much.

More from Baltimore Orioles

Th 27-year-old started 13 games for the Orioles, and by the time he was done in the rotation, his ERA was 5.22.

Wilson showed a lot of promise in Spring Training, and it was thought he might be able to take hold of a rotation spot as well.

Then, he started the season with some effective outings in the bullpen, which helped increase that optimism.

Wilson is a guy who does not have great raw ability. He isn’t going to blow a fastball by you, but is a guy who uses his brain to get people out.

And example of just what he can be was when Wilson went to Boston and pitched eight innings, leaving up three hits and no runs. It was a fantastic start.

Wilson will also be under team control for several more years, for the team to try to figure out how to make him an effective, consistent pitcher.
