Baltimore Ravens Fire Offensive Coordinator Marc Trestman

The Baltimore Ravens have fired offensive coordinator Marc Trestman and will replace him with quarterbacks coach Marty Mornhinweg.
After yesterday’s disappointing 16-10 loss to the Washington Redskins, the Baltimore Ravens have decided to fire offensive coordinator Marc Trestman and replace him with quarterbacks coach Marty Mornhinweg.
Trestman has been under a lot of scrutiny lately as the Ravens offense has struggled this year, and it appears yesterday’s game was the final straw. Many offensive players, including quarterback Joe Flacco and wide receiver Steve Smith, were visibly angry about the results of yesterday’s game.
Many, including myself, have criticized Trestman for his poor play calling yesterday.

Running back Terrance West ended the game with 11 carries for 95 yards, a productive game to say the least, and the vast majority of that came in the first half.
West only carried the ball five times the entire second half. He was averaging 8.6 YPC and was barely used at all in the second half of the game, despite the ineffectiveness of the passing game.
I don’t believe Trestman is entirely to blame for yesterday’s loss; the offensive line was banged up, leading to Flacco constantly being under pressure and sacked multiple times. Marshal Yanda was playing tackle most of the game, which is challenging and impressive that he was able to do it competently.

Regardless of who is to blame for yesterday’s loss, it seems like it was inevitable that Trestman would end up getting fired as the Ravens offense has looked borderline anemic this season. Hopefully, Mornhinweg can get the team going in the right direction.
