Who Handles the Kick Return Duties?

John Harbaugh made his mark in the NFL as a special teams coordinator. He has two of the best in kicker Justin Tucker and punter Sam Koch. Where the Ravens are struggling is finding someone to return kicks.

Count Kaelin Clay out of the mix. He was the primary returner for most of last season, but waived by the Ravens on Monday. He muffed a punt against Carolina and that cost the players before him last season. He offers little as a receiver and with so much talent at the position, it’s no surprise that he is gone.

That leaves a handful of guys in the discussion. Keenan Reynolds was back to field two punts, but did not log an official return. West and fellow running back Kenneth Dixon each returned a kick, as did rookie cornerback Tavon Young.

With that said, the job might be Michael Campanaro‘s to lose. Harbaugh has openly said he is rooting for the guy, and when he is on the field, he is a terrific player. The problem is he is never on the field. His spot on the roster could come down to his play on special teams.
