Baltimore Ravens: 3 Draft Prospects to Avoid
By Joe Serpico
Noah Spence
The Ravens took an extensive look at Noah Spence recently and their is a lot to dig in to with the Eastern Kentucky pass rusher. He is the true definition of a boom-or-bust prospect because he has a history that haunts him, but his play might convince the team he is worth the risk.
There is no denying his talent on the field. The Ravens pass rush was almost nonexistent with Terrell Suggs out for the season and Spence could step in to offer some pressure on quarterbacks. He tallied 22.5 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks last year for EKU, and could be the best pure pass rusher in this draft.
Spence was highly recruited by Ohio State and had a solid freshman campaign under Urban Meyer. However, he failed multiple drug tests for ecstasy and was ultimately kicked out of the Big Ten Conference. Furthermore, he was forced to sit out the 2014 season and watch his former OSU teammates when a national title without him.
If we were talking about a kid who likes to smoke a bit of weed, that’s one thing. But Spence clearly likes to party, and that’s not what the Ravens need. Spence might have the talent on the field, but give him a few million dollars and the party might never stop. Thanks, but no thanks.
