The Baltimore Ravens are in the position to trade back from the No. 6 pick because other teams want the top quarterbacks in the NFL Draft.

It was only a few weeks ago that I wrote how the Ravens should stand pat with the sixth pick and take the best player available. Fast forward to today and I’ve changed my mind.

Baltimore find themselves in the perfect position to stockpile on draft picks and still get a player that they want. Joey Bosa, Jalen Ramsey and Ronnie Stanley are some of the names that have been linked to the Ravens and each would be a welcomed addition. The problem could be that all three are off the board when the Ravens are on the clock.

I have the Ravens trading back and select Vernon Hargreaves in my three bold predictions for the offseason. My reasoning why I believe Ozzie Newsome does accept a trade is because many other teams behind the Ravens are quarterback hungry. The Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers and St. Louis Rams are all behind the Ravens and could be looking to get a quarterback in the first round.

The three signal callers that could go in the first round are Jared Goff, Carson Wentz and Paxton Lynch. The Cleveland Browns are expected to select one of them, but the question mark comes after that. Many are speculating that the Dallas Cowboys could take a quarterback at No. 4. While Jerry Jones loves a circus, I doubt he puts a cloud over Tony Romo’s future by selecting a QB so early. That’s just begging for drama and Romo still has a few years in the tank before he’s ready to call it quits. They have another needs to address in the first round than a backup quarterback for a few seasons.

What puts Baltimore in the power position is that the 49ers draft right after them and teams could be willing to move ahead of the Niners to get the QB they want. They can field offers from every team and wait it out until the final minutes to see which team proposes the best offer.

More from Baltimore Ravens

This is contingent on the status of Ramsey in the draft. The Ravens top need is a playmaker in the secondary and the Florida State star is just that. If he is available at No. 6, then the Ravens rush to get their choice in. If he is not, they move back a few picks and get Vernon Hargreaves. Baltimore still gets their man in the secondary and add extra picks as well. It’s a win-win for them.

We are two months away from the start of the draft and a lot is sure to change leading up to it. Free agency will alter a lot of teams draft boards and the Ravens will be no different. I expect the Ravens to add a situational pass rusher and receiver during free agency, and use the draft to address the secondary.

But most likely, I’m completely wrong about everything I just said.
