Baltimore Ravens. JIMMY SMITH. C. 48 Tackles / 6 Assists / 1 Sack
3 INT / 1 TD / 10 Passes Defended. CB

The Ravens were ecstatic when they signed Smith to a

four-year deal worth $48 million with $21 million guaranteed

. He was having the best year of his career before a Lisfranc injury ended his season in 2014. Many felt the team kept a quality corner at a price that was team friendly.

Smith was the best corner for the entire season, but that is not saying much. He finished 77th in Pro Football Focus‘ rankings of cornerbacks despite being the fifth-highest paid player at the position last season. He did admit after the season that his foot injury was not completely healed from the surgery and feels an offseason to completely heal instead of rehab will do him good.

Ozzie Newsome has a lot invested in Smith so they need him back healthy next season. With Webb moving to safety, there is already a vacancy at one corner spot. The Ravens need Smith to play like the player they envisioned him to be when they gave him a nice pay raise or the secondary will have an expensive leak to fix.
