Mallett leaves us wondering after finishing the last two games of the season for Baltimore. He was with the Houston Texans six games, starting four of those games, before being cut by the Texans for off-the-field problems. There is no question that as long as he gets his act together, he has all the physical tools to be an NFL quarterback.

He was very impressive in the win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. He made all the throws necessary and stuck some balls into tight windows. He hit receivers down the field, which opened holes in the running game. The Ravens offense looked alive for the first time since Flacco went down with Mallett in charge.
Things were not terrific in the game against the Cincinnati Bengals, but he kept the Ravens in the game until the end. He did throw two interceptions, but again, you could see the difference in the offense with him under center. The Ravens thought they could win games with Mallett and that is important going forward.
Mallett will enter 2016 as the early favorite to back up Flacco. He will get an entire offseason to learn the Ravens system and could be an asset moving forward. There was a reason that the Texans thought he could be a starter in the NFL, and the Ravens could groom him to eventually get that chance again.
