How things have changed over just a few months. Butler was the bright spot during organized team activities, catching everything thrown his way and wowing everyone in the process. The success hasn’t translated over into training camp, and more importantly, the preseason games, however.

Butler does lead the team in receptions this preseason with seven catches for 60 yards, but otherwise has done very little when on the field. He dropped a would-be touchdown against the Redskins last week and the majority of those catches came against the opponent’s second-team.

What is unknown is how many receivers the Ravens do keep on board. Baltimore has kept seven receivers on the roster in the past, and with Breshad Perriman‘s current injury situation, they could opt to do so again. A monster performance on Thursday could land Butler on the Ravens 53-man roster, but right now, it looks as though Butler could be back on the practice squad this season.
