The Rookies’ Play

The focus on much of training camp is to gauge how well the rookies respond to the speed of the NFL game. The Ravens had another great draft class, and this will be our first look at the new crop of talent.

What is disappointing is that first-round pick Breshad Perriman will likely not suit up for his first game. The talented wide receiver has been out since the opening day of training camp with what the team is calling a “bruised knee.” The injury was only expected to keep Perriman out for a few days, but he has now missed 10 practices since landing on his knee.

The Ravens still have plenty to be excited about with their rookies entering their first game. Tight ends Maxx Williams and Nick Boyle will likely get a good amount of repetitions with the second and third teams. Ryan Mink of BaltimoreRavens.com touched on the terrific camp from third-rounder Carl Davis and he’s more important now with the injury to Brent Urban. Darren Waller is freakishly tall for a receiver.

Baltimore had nine picks in this year’s draft and brought in a handful of undrafted free agents as well that could impress. The Ravens were already a talented bunch and with so many players in the mix, Harbaugh might be forced to let some good players walk at the end of camp.
