The first major piece to fall for the Ravens was the news that offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak would be joining the Denver Broncos. Just days after telling the Ravens he would stay put in Baltimore, he agreed to the deal to move to the Mile High City. While it hurt to see Kubiak go, the Denver job was his dream job as he was a backup quarterback to current General Manager John Elway.
Now that Kubiak was on his way out, John Harbaugh needed to find a replacement. The Ravens were originally linked to Adam Gase, the Broncos ex-offensive coordinator, but Gase ultimately followed John Fox to the Chicago Bears. The Ravens didn’t have to look too far from the Windy City as they brought former Bears Head Coach Marc Trestman in to take Kubiak’s place.
Trestman has vowed to keep the offensive scheme similar to last season, but he will obviously add his wrinkles as a more down-the-field passer. The Ravens should be thankful for being able to bring in the offensive genius, and the Ravens offense might put up even better numbers than last year’s record-breaking team.
