Baltimore Ravens vs Indianapolis Colts: Game Preview

The Baltimore Ravens have gotten off to a hot start to the 2014 NFL season. After losing in Week 1 against the division rival Cincinnati Bengals, they have won three straight to push their record to 3-1. Not only have they won three straight, but two of them were dominating wins, and two were victories against division foes.

In Week 2, they posted an impressive performance on Thursday Night Football to beat the bitter-rival Pittsburgh Steelers 26-6. The next week, they traveled to Cleveland and squeezed a game out against the Browns 23-21. And in Week 4, they dominated the Carolina Panthers in all facets of the game winning  38-10.

In order to get to 4-1, they will have a tough test on the road against the Indianapolis Colts. Although off to a slow start, the Colts are still a very dangerous team.

Andrew Luck is considered to be the best quarterback of the next generation after he led this team to the playoffs in his first two years after the Colts went 2-14 record in 2011. He also completed a 28-point comeback in the wild card match-up with the Kansas City Chiefs last season.

More from Baltimore Ravens

He has been very impressive throughout the first four games of the season this year. He has thrown for 370 yards or more in three of his first four competitions, totaling to 1,305 yards, 13 touchdowns, and four interceptions. He also has a passer rating of 108.

The Colts’ defense, however, has been less impressive, which is why the Colts currently possess a record of 2-2.

Even with that defense, they are a team that the Ravens should be scared of. With weapons such as Reggie Wayne and T.Y Hilton, Luck has plenty of options to throw to. Ahmad Bradshaw has re-emerged to give the Colts an added boost as well. In his limited playing time, he has rushed for 182 yards, and that’s on just 34 carries (5.44 yards-per-rush). He looks to have gotten some of his quickness back from when he was in New York, and that is a scary thought.

When you have a quarterback like Andrew Luck, you will always have chance

Even with the Colts ranked 21st defensively, they still have some big names. They recently acquired middle linebacker D’Qwell Jackson after the Cleveland Browns released him. The nine-year veteran can be a great leader over any defense. They also picked up former Ravens’ defensive tackle Arthur Jones, who I’m sure you are all familiar with.

The defense is a question mark for the Colts, but offensively, they lack for nothing. And besides, when you have a quarterback like Andrew Luck, you will always have chance.
