Jean Carmona – SS

Jean Carmona is the youngest player the Orioles acquired this year at just 18 years old. Carmona was signed by the Brewers out of the Dominican Republic in May 2016 and shows some potential for the future.

A switch-hitter who’s an above-average defender and a strong, athletic frame that already shows solid power from both sides of the plate and could get even better as he gets older. He’s also got above-average speed and could steal a handful of bases too.

So far this season at rookie-ball through 39 games, he’s had a tough year, slashing .239/.298/.406, though he’s sporting a solid .168 ISO so far.

He’s a raw prospect, and he’s a lottery ticket, but he’s a player that has a lot of potential and could easily develop the tools to become a top-100 prospect as he gets older, gains strength, and improves his game.

He’s got all the tools, he just needs the development, and he’s got plenty of time to work on his game.
