The Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers are among the three leaders in acquiring Baltimore Orioles shortstop Manny Machado via trade.

Baltimore Orioles shortstop Manny Machado will represent the Orioles in the 2018 All-Star game and possibly be the last time he wears an Orioles uniform as trade rumors continue to progress towards a deal.

The latest Orioles trade rumors on Machado indicate Sunday’s 6-5 victory over the Texas Rangers may have been his last game in an Orioles uniform and more importantly, his last game at Oriole Park at Camden Yards as the Orioles starting shortstop.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter basically confirmed Machado’s future with the Orioles when he decided to bench him in the fourth inning due to a sloppy infield after a rain delay. Machado also smashed home run No. 24 of the season before leaving the game.

It’s very likely Machado resumes the second half of the 2018 season with a new ball club. Many teams have turned in their Machado trade proposals to the Orioles front office. However, a new group of teams has emerged as likely destinations for Machado.

Baltimore Sun’s Eduardo A. Encina reports three teams in serious contention to land Machado before the 2018 MLB trade deadline. The three teams consist of the Philadephia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers.

The Dodgers have a plethora of top prospects that the Orioles could acquire in a trade for Machado. Notable Dodgers prospects include catcher Will Smith, right-handed pitchers Dustin May and Yadier Alvarez and outfielder Alex Verdugo.

Second baseman Keston Hiura of the Milwaukee Brewers stands out as the elite prospect from the Brewers farm system and ranks No. 30 overall in MLB.com’s Top 100 Prospects via 2018 Prospect Watch. Another notable prospect from the Brewers includes right-handed pitcher Corbin Burnes who sits No. 56 overall in MLB.com’s top prospects.

The Phillies own one of the top pitching prospects and No. 23 overall Sixto Sanchez, which the Phillies likely would need to include in a trade package for Machado. Along with Sanchez, the Orioles would ask for right-handed pitcher Adonis Medina, who is the No. 74 overall prospect, per MLB.com.
