3. Dustin May — RHP

Dustin May is young, but he’s got a lot of potential. May has made some adjustments since joining the Dodgers, switching from a four-seam fastball to a two-seam fastball and focusing more on his curveball as his primary breaking pitch. May is also working on a changeup that has some potential as a solid third pitch.

So far this year, May’s been solid in High-A, posting a 3.13 ERA with an 8.88 K/9 and a 1.15 WHIP over 72 innings and 13 starts. Considering he’s 6’6″ and has a big delivery, it’s impressive that he doesn’t walk more hitters than he does, with just a 4.4% walk rate this year.

Again, May is young, he’s just 20, so it’s hard to know exactly what he is at this point, but the potential here is certainly tantalizing, and it’s no shock that the Baltimore Orioles are so intrigued by him.
