The Baltimore Orioles are ramping up their negotiations to trade Manny Machado, reportedly receiving offers from seven different teams.
As it stands, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the frontrunners to land Machado. Considering the team is second in the NL West and lost their star shortstop Corey Seager for the season to Tommy John surgery, it’s no surprise that the Dodgers are looking hard at Machado.
The Dodgers’ need for offense is even more significant now, as outfielder Yasiel Puig—who was in the midst of a very productive month—has landed on the disabled list with a strained right oblique and is set to miss at least a few weeks of the season.
One of the advantages to the Baltimore Orioles trading with the Dodgers is how deep the Dodgers’ farm system is. They’ve got a number of good quality prospects, plenty to offer up a more than fair deal for Machado.
More importantly, they have good outfield and pitching prospects—the two areas that the Orioles have the biggest need in.
