5. Cleveland Indians

If the Indians are going to win a World Series, they need to do it soon. They’ve got an excellent team with a major confluence of talent between guys like Francisco Lindor and Jose Ramirez on offense and guys like Corey Kluber and Carlos Carrasco in the rotation.

So how could Manny fit on their team? Currently, Lindor is at short and Ramirez is at third, but they could easily shift Ramirez to second and either send Jason Kipnis to the outfield, or just put him out to pasture (it’s about time to move on).

However that does present a bit of a problem—Manny really likes playing shortstop, and I don’t get the impression he’s too keen to move to third base. Still, if it means playing on a World Series team, he might do it regardless.

So what would the Baltimore Orioles get? The Indians don’t have a ton as far as prospects go, but the trade would likely have to include someone like Francisco Mejia (whom the Orioles would more than likely make an outfielder rather than a catcher, given Chance Sisco‘s position on the team) or a pitching prospect like Triston McKenzie or Shane Bieber.

I could also see the Orioles going for someone like Nolan Jones as a replacement third baseman, or Willi Castro as a replacement shortstop.

The Indians don’t typically make massive trades like this, but it’s definitely conceivable given how close they’ve come to a World Series the past couple years.
