The 2018 NBA Draft is quickly approaching so now is a good time to think about what areas the Washington Wizards will address in the draft.

The Washington Wizards had a down 2017-2018 even though they were mostly healthy minus John Wall. It’s crazy to think that things could go from good to bad in one offseason. The good thing is, the Washington Wizards finally have two draft picks in the upcoming NBA Draft.

It’s definitely a good thing to get younger talent on the roster, and they should be able to get a good player at the 16th pick. It’s hard to predict what position they will go in the draft, but it would be nice if they could upgrade the center position.

The bad thing for Washington is that Marcin Gortat and Ian Mahinmi are still under contract for the 2018-2019 season. Maybe Ernie Grunfeld can swing a trade during the draft to get rid of one of them. My hope is that Gortat gets traded on draft night.

More from Washington Wizards

You know that John Wall is begging upper management to get him an athletic big man. Here’s to hoping they draft an athletic big man that can also shoot the three. You see all these centers that make three’s, so it would be awesome for the Wizards if they drafted a center that did that.

In years past the Wizards have traded away draft picks, which has hurt the team. It’s good for teams to keep draft picks in order to build for the future because who knows how long some of these players will be on the roster.
