The Baltimore Orioles Need to Sell at MLB Trade Deadline
By Steve Rudden
It’s not even a full month into the Baltimore Orioles 2018 season and the Orioles are already plummeting in the American League East standings.
I’m going to say what a lot of other Baltimore Orioles fans want to say. It’s time for the Baltimore Orioles to sell, sell and sell at the 2018 MLB trade deadline.
With a current record of 5-11, a change in Baltimore may be the team’s best option moving forward.
The power-hitting Orioles aren’t the same since the 2012-2016 team. They’ve regressed big time.

A lot of us knew that the Orioles were crazy when they decided not to make any big moves during the 2017 trade deadline besides acquiring infielder Tim Beckham from the Tampa Bay Rays.
I’€™m not sure why Orioles general manager Dan Duquette thought it was a good idea to see if the Orioles could make one last run in 2018, but so far, it’s not looking good. It’s probably a good thing if they don’t bring him back as the General Manager after 2018.
The Orioles should sell at the deadline, and I’€™m not just talking about Manny Machado and Zach Britton (if he’s healthy). How about Adam Jones, Brad Brach, Darren O’day, and maybe even slugger Mark Trumbo?
Maybe even see what kind of interest Jonathan Schoop attracts as well. A fresh start would be beneficial for the Orioles franchise.
You still have Trey Mancini, Chance Sisco, Dylan Bundy, and Kevin Gausman that can be the core of players to lead the team for years to come. It would be THAT long of a rebuilding period, but who knows what will happen.

Oriole fans deserve better than this. They put up with 14 straight losing seasons and now have been let down again by Duquette.
Maybe he’s still bitter at the organization for not letting him go to the Toronto Blue Jays to become the team’s president.
