The Baltimore Orioles are training Brady Anderson to be the next General Manager if and when Dan Duquette leaves the team.

As you all may have heard in the last day and a half, it seems like Brady Anderson was one of the main reasons why Andrew Cashner signed with the Baltimore Orioles. Cashner mentioned that they met in November and had a good rapport.

I think it’s a good thing that the Baltimore Orioles are doing this because it’s good to hire within. Brady is now getting tons of experience and is learning what to do and what not to do to run a successful organization.

It’s also good that he was once a player and had to deal with free agency. It’s rare that former players are put in a position to possibly run an organization.  Anderson is probably a straight shooter and won’t play games.

I have a feeling he will do a lot better than Dan Duquette has as GM of the Baltimore Orioles.  Dan Duquette has worn out his welcome in Baltimore.  Yes, he’d led the Orioles to a lot of success, but the fiasco with the Toronto Blue Jays left some fans bitter.

Duquette has made a lot of mistakes, especially some trades that have left the Orioles with little pitching prospects. Moreover, he also made a mistake by not trying to extend Manny Machado after his second knee surgery.

Finally, the last mistake that Duquette is making is not trying to extend Jonathon Schoop and/or Adam Jones. Jones is the face of the franchise, and it would be a mistake for Baltimore to let him go after the 2018 season.

I’m hoping that Brady Anderson can see what kind of general manager he needs to be to make sure the Baltimore Orioles are winners for a very long time. His heart has remained in Baltimore throughout his entire MLB career, and maybe the piece needed for the Orioles to take the next step.
