The Maryland Terrapins are coming off of a close hard fought 72-70 loss to the Syracuse Orange and now turn to the Purdue Boilermakers.

The Maryland Terrapins are coming off of a close hard fought 72-70 loss to the Syracuse Orange in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Purdue won their matchup against No.17 Louisville, 66-57. Now both teams square off at the Xfinity Center Friday night.

The Maryland Terrapins are set to take on the Purdue Boilermakers at 7 p.m. EST on the Big Ten Network for their first Big Ten conference game of this young college basketball season.

In Maryland’s two-point loss to the Orange on Monday, it was the Kevin Huerter and Franklin Howard show. Huerter had 23 points on 8-11 shooting from the field and he was on fire from behind the three-point line, making seven of his nine attempts.

For the Orange, Franklin Howard played great and he made the plays the Orange needed in that win. In playing all 40 minutes, he recorded a double-double (15 points, 10 assists) and added five rebounds.

Both teams rebounded the ball well and also turned the ball over more than they should have combined for 31 turnovers.

The perimeter game is going to be very important for the Maryland Terrapins. Huerter was hot from deep against Syracuse but he can’t be the only guy to heat up in this game. Guys like Jared Nickens and Dion Wiley may have to step in and contribute to Maryland’s three-point shooting effort.

The X-Factor for the Terps is going to be none other than talented Freshman Forward Bruno Fernando. He needs to bring energy and intensity to his performance. If he can play well and Maryland can get some good breaks defensively and in transition,  the Terps win.
