After Maryland football took down Indiana in thrilling fashion 42-39, they now face the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at High Point Solutions Stadium. Game time is 3:30 pm EST on Big Ten Network.

This game against Rutgers for Maryland football was going to have some mystique surrounding it as the game was supposed to be played in Yankee Stadium but was rerouted to Rutgers University because it was thought that the Yankees were going to have more games to play in the World Series. What a shame for the Maryland Terrapins.

Maryland football (4-4, 2-3 Big Ten) is looking for their second straight victory this week and third straight victory against a  Rutgers Scarlet Knights team (3-5, 2-3 Big Ten) who they beat 31-13 last season to become bowl eligible. Ty Johnson ran wild on the Scarlet Knights for 168 yards on 11 carries and the Terps out gained Rutgers 318-147 in that category.

Running the ball and stopping the run will be important in order for Maryland to get to 5-4 and one win away from being bowl eligible. On Rutgers end, they have a solid running back in Gus Edwards. Even though he has hasn’t cracked 100 yards in a game this season, that could change if Maryland’s defense isn’t careful and disciplined in run defense.

3 Keys to a Maryland Terrapins Football Victory

  • This could be a trap game for the Terps so taking care of the ball will be very important in addition to setting the tone early with pace or physical style of play.
  • Penalties kill drives and kill momentum so Maryland football needs to be smart and disciplined in order to makes sure penalties aren’t an issue in today’s game.
  • Maryland is 4-0 when Terps running back  Jake Funk scores a touchdown. Give him the ball.
