3. Carlos Santana – 1B/DH

This feels a bit more like a pipe dream than anything, but I would love to see the Baltimore Orioles pursue Carlos Santana. I know, I said I wasn’t going to mention the first basemen, but Santana mostly plays DH with some first base work at times.

Santana is a fantastic power hitter who is an on-base machine. This past season, he slashed .259/.363/.455 with 23 home runs, 90 runs, and 79 RBIs. And that was a somewhat down year for him.

Santana is a switch hitter who’s got loads of power and some great plate discipline, the latter of which is something the Orioles could really use. Ultimately, I think Santana will either be too expensive or will be more inclined to re-sign with the Cleveland Indians, but I would enjoy seeing him in Baltimore.
