The Orioles have no speed. They haven’t had speed for some time. Last year, they were dead last in the league in stolen bases by a lot with 32. The next-lowest was the Toronto Blue Jays with 53. Jarrod Dyson is someone who could provide the Orioles with that speed that they need.

Even at 33 years old, Dyson can be productive. He slashed .251/.324/.350 last season with five home runs (a career-high), 56 runs, 30 RBIs, and 28 steals. I’d expect his average to go up next year, as he had a career-low BABIP last season at .285, which, given his speed, should be higher.

Dyson is a good fielder with great speed, something that the Orioles desperately need, and could make for a solid platoon player or pinch runner, and if he was given the everyday job, he could easily steal 40 bases.
