Baltimore Orioles: 10 Free Agent Left-Handed Hitters Team Could Pursue
By Ben Palmer
9. Colby Rasmus – OF
Colby Rasmus’ season last year was derailed by injury, but when he was healthy, he was playing exceptionally well, slashing .281/.318/.579 with nine home runs, 17 runs, and 23 RBIs in just 37 games. If you pace that out to a full season, that’s a nearly 40 home run pace.
Now, I don’t think he’s going to hit 40 home runs, but he’s shown the ability to consistently hit around 18-22 home runs each year. He’s played all three outfield positions many times in his career, so he provides some flexibility for the team in that respect.
He does have a strikeout problem though, as his strikeout rate was 34.9% last season, but a left-handed bat is something the Baltimore Orioles need, and Rasmus is just that, and he’d likely be inexpensive as well.
