Maryland Football: Wisconsin Badgers Stay Undefeated and Beat Terps 38-13
Maryland football wasn’t a match for No.5 Wisconsin Badgers as they took care of the Terps at home winning convincingly, 38-13.
Maryland football wasn’t much of a challenge for the No. 5 Wisconsin Badgers as they took care of the Terps at home, 38-13.
The Badgers’ first score of the game on Saturday came on a Max Bortenschlager interception that was run back for a touchdown by Badger Linebacker T.J. Edwards. Wisconsin’s defense held Maryland’s running game and D.J. Moore in check.
On the defensive side, Maryland football struggled to with defending Troy Fumagalli who caught seven passes for 83 yards. He was the main target for Quarterback Alex Hornibrook who went 16/24, 225 yards (9.4 yards per pass), two touchdowns and one interception.

On the ground, the Badgers Jonathan Taylor ran for 126 yards on 22 carries and saw the end zone one time. His performance was the second time in back to back weeks an opposing running back gained over 100 yards.
Wisconsin won this game up front on both lines of scrimmage. Their offensive line was massive and it outplayed the Terps which allowed for all of those holes to open up for Taylor and for Hornibrook to have the amount of time he did to make throws.
The Badgers were also more efficient on third down, converting eight of 13 attempts compared to five of 14 showing from Maryland football on third down.
The Maryland Terrapins head into Homecoming week at 3-4 overall and near the bottom of the Big Ten East at 1-3. Their next opponent is the Indiana Hoosiers (3-4, 0-4 Big Ten) who lost to Michigan State Saturday as well but not by much. The score of that game was 17-9.
These two teams are evenly matched and both teams are looking for a win in Big Ten play right now. Next week’s game can make things a little easier as the remaining schedule is Rutgers, Michigan, Michigan State and Penn State to close.
