Tanner Scott, LHP

The 2017 Arizona Fall League will be left handed pitcher Tanner Scott’s third consecutive appearance. He has had a solid season posting up a 2.28 ERA along with 83 strikeouts in 67 innings.

A big part of his success stems from pitching in three innings stints every five days. Having to pitch on a regular schedule as starting pitchers have has allowed for Scott to focus his game and prepare himself better.

While the Orioles have experimented with Scott as a starter, his effectiveness can be seen as a late inning reliever and someone who can pitch multiple innings.

Scott was put in the national spotlight with his play in the MLB Futures Game carrying a plus plus fastball and average slider.

He hits triple digits with his fastball with ease and has developed a low 90’s slider that is effective if paired correctly with the fastball. The young hurler draws comparisons to an Andrew Miller type of potential as his career blossoms. Lowering his walk rate will be the key moving forward. Scott also has to be added to the 40 man roster to be protected from the Rule 5 draft.
