Baltimore Orioles, KC Royals to face off in crucial post-deadline series
By Nate Wardle
Starting pitching, please!
The Orioles have Ubaldo Jimenez, Dylan Bundy and Chris Tillman projected to start the three games against Kansas City. Do you know who the worst pitcher in the American League who has thrown at least 60 innings is? Chris Tillman.
Do you know who is second? Ubaldo Jimenez.
It’s that bad.
That’s why the Jeremy Hellickson trade makes sense. Hyun Soo Kim wasn’t playing. Dylan Bundy needs to be shut down if the Orioles fall out of contention. But, until then, having Hellickson means pitchers have to earn their next start, something only Bundy and Gausman are currently doing.
Wade Miley is also in the bottom 15 of that list.
The starting pitching is atrocious.
It’s become so bad, that if the Orioles fall out of contention, they don’t need to try to tank for a better pick. Just keep running out the starters the team has.
It’s bad folks.
