NBA Draft 2017: The ultimate Washington Wizards mock draft roundup
The Ringer
The Ringer’s 2017 NBA Mock Draft projects the Washington Wizards to land 21-year-old senior point guard from Iowa State Monte Morris with the No. 52 overall pick.
At the head of one of the most efficient offenses in college basketball, Morris set a career high 16.4 points per game along with, 6.2 assists and 4.8 rebounds at Iowa State last season. Despite the career-high for points, Morris’ field goal percentage has continually dropped from his career-best 50.7 percent down to 46.5 percent his senior year.
Despite the decline in some aspects of his shooting, Morris showed his 3-D ability during his junior and senior year as he averaged 6.5 assists in his last two seasons at Iowa State. His confidence as a leader on the court makes him a viable backup point guard in the NBA and would fit quite well behind Wizards star Wall.

The Ringer calls Morris “a talented pick-and-roll playmaker who has elite court vision and makes pinpoint passes,” with Morris’ NBA ceiling at a Keyon Dooling or Earl Watson type player. The Wizards could use Morris’ sturdy defensive ability along with his strength at 6 feet 3 inches tall to pull down rebounds.
