No. 2 – Ariel Miranda, Seattle Mariners

Ariel Miranda never really got much of a shot with the Orioles. He defected from Cuba in 2015 and joined the Baltimore Orioles on a minor league deal.

He stayed around in the minors until the trade deadline of the 2016 season when the Orioles traded him to the Mariners for Wade Miley, another lefty.

Between this season and last, Miranda has started 24 games for the Mariners and pitched to a 4.05 ERA with a 7.23 K/9. Is that dominant? No. But is it better than what the Orioles have right now? For the most part.

And in case you were wondering, since he joined the Orioles, Miley has started 24 games and pitched to a 4.96 ERA and an 8.50 K/9, and that’s including the strange, luck-filled stretch that Miley had at the beginning of this season.

For the entirety of the 2016 season that Miley was with the Orioles (so from his first start for the O’s to the end of the year), he pitched a 6.17 ERA.
