Superior defenses

No matter the offensive numbers, both of these teams are typically known for having a good defense.

2017 is no exception, as the Royals only have ten errors, tied for best in baseball. The Orioles have 17, which is tied for fifth-best in baseball.

Alex Gordon, Lorenzo Cain, Salvador Perez and Eric Hosmer are regarding as some of the best defensively at their positions. Likewise, so are Manny Machado and Chris Davis, and Oriole fans know how good Adam Jones and Jonathan Schoop are as well.

All this could mean that an error or defensive miscue could play a big role in the games between these two teams.
