Baltimore Orioles game 2 vs. Toronto Blue Jays: 3 things to watch
By Nate Wardle
Dylan Bundy is now a top of the rotation starter, but his spring was shaky. Bundy was working on bringing back the cutter/slider that the team would not let him throw in 2016, and the results overall weren’t pretty.
However, I anticipate a better outing tonight. I think that Bundy will use what works for him, even if that means he has to avoid the cutter. Bundy is a good enough pitcher when he is on that he doesn’t need the pitch.
I think the work done with Roger McDowell will pay off, and Bundy will have a solid start. I’m not anticipating he gets through six innings, as I expect him to come up short of that.
I anticipate a line of 5 2/3 IP 4 H 3 R 1 HR 2 BB 6 SOs. Not a great night, but something to build upon for the Orioles’ young right hander.
Overall, I expect more runs to be scored on Wednesday than in the opener. That isn’t to say the pitching is not as good, but just I expect some offense in this game.
But, as I like to say, it comes down to the starting pitching. If Bundy can match or do better than the line above, I anticipate the Orioles sweeping the short series before they take on the Yankees.
