New York Yankees’ RFs – Matt Holliday, Chris Carter, Aaron Hicks, Tyler Austin

Matt Holliday is another player who will make his AL East debut in 2017, replacing the departed Alex Rodriguez, Carlos Beltran and Brian McCann at DH for the Yanks.

Holliday is another guy who is becoming very limited in the field as he ages so that DH may be a great fit for him. This is a player who is a seven-time All-Star, a career .303/.382/.515 hitter.

However, in 2016, dealing with injuries Holliday hit .246/.322/.461 with 20 HRs, 20 2Bs, 62 RBIs and 48 runs for the St. Louis Cardinals. He had a 1.0 oWAR in 2016, the lowest of his career.

Other options at DH for the Yanks include Chris Carter, he of power and a ton of strike outs, Aaron Hicks, Tyler Austin and also possibly Greg Bird. However, I figure Bird will be the better option at 1B, although it is still a healthy competition between Bird and Carter.
