Baltimore Orioles: Michael Bourn suffers broken finger, will miss month of time

The Baltimore Orioles continue to deal with injuries as they move through the beginning of Spring Training, withMichael Bournthe latest affected.

Baltimore OriolesMichael Bourn suffered a broken finger while catching a football at the end of Friday’s workout, per the Oriole beat reporters.

So, what does this mean?

Let’s start with Bourn. He has a March 27th opt-out. It would be difficult for him to be able to be fully healthy and back and ready to play in games by that point.

So, I expect that may get expanded. Which will give the Orioles a little more time to shake out the logjam with him,Craig Gentry,Joey Rickard, Aneury Tavarez, Anthony Santander andChris Dickerson, who has looked magnificent so far.

Obviously, this is good news for each of those players. Reports are favorable for Gentry and Santander as far as their health, and many of these players have performed very well so far this spring.

Granted, it is early, but remember thatJoey Rickardwon himself a spot on the roster with a fantastic spring last year.

To recap, the injury concerns so far this spring includeJ.J. Hardy,Chris Tillman,Zach Britton,Logan OndrusekandMichael Bourn. Not to mention that you can addWelington Castillo, who is dealing with neck spasms currently.
