Washington Wizards: Five worst draft picks in team history
By Ben Palmer
3. Kenny Green (1985) – Picked No. 12 overall
Technically Kenny Green was picked by the Washington Bullets, but his pick at number 12 overall in the 1985 NBA Draft is a sad story for Washington fans and worth inclusion in this list.
Picked out of Wake Forest, Green is probably better-known for who was picked right after him rather than for his own career in the NBA. Picked at number 13 overall in that draft was none other than Hall of Famer Karl Malone.
Yup. The Washington Bullets missed out on The Mailman himself by one pick. So what did Green eventually do during his NBA career? Well, the answer to that is, virtually nothing.
Green played 20 games in Washington and was eventually traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. One year later, Green was out of the league entirely. During his brief time in the NBA, he only averaged 4.4 points per game.
Players drafted later: Karl Malone (13th), Joe Dumars (18th), A.C. Green (23rd), Terry Porter (24th)
