National Signing Day 2017 has arrived as Maryland football unexpectedly lands four-star running back and Memphis native Cordarrian Richardson.

National Signing Day 2017 delivered Maryland football with the unanticipated signing of four-star running back Cordarrian Richardson.

The Memphis, Tennessee native unprecedently revealed his choice to sign with the Terps from outer space. Richardson teamed up with Bleacher Report to launch a video camera attached to a weather balloon into the galaxy.

The logo of Richardson’s top four schools, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Michigan State, and Maryland, projected on the clouds above. Lastly, the four logos vanished when finally the Maryland Terrapins’ logo reappeared, representing Richardson’s commitment to Maryland.

The 5’11.5″ and 222-pound running back is No. 101 in the overall recruit rankings and No. 8 in Scout.com’s positional rankings. Richardson, who first committed to Clemson last year in March, decided to walk away from his commitment to the Tigers two months ago.

How shocking was Richardson’s commitment to Maryland? Just last week, according to Scout’s Ole Miss website, Richardson proclaimed, “(Ole Miss needing a running back) plays a good role. Ole Miss has a 90 percent chance.”

Maryland’s head coach DJ Durkin has himself with one of the most talented 2017 recruiting classes as Richardson will join four-star running back Anthony McFarland in the Terps’ backfield. McFarland, who served as running back for Maryland’s DeMatha Catholic high school, signed his National Letter of Intent, officially making him a Maryland Terrapin.

As of 6:06 ET, Scout.com college football team recruiting rankings for 2017 National Signing Day lists Maryland football as the 12th best recruiting class.
