NFL Draft: Five players for the Ravens to target
By Ben Palmer
2. Corey Davis – WR, Western Michigan
While Mike Williams will likely get the most attention in this year’s receiver drafting class, Corey Davis may very well be the most complete receiver out there.
Davis is big (6’3″, 205 lbs), has good speed, and is just an all-around excellent receiver. He has excellent hands, is a great route runner, is quick, and is excellent after the catch.
Steve Smith has retired, and Breshad Perriman has shown that he’s not the Ravens number one receiver of the future, but Corey Davis could be. I know Ravens fans groan at the idea of drafting a receiver considering the team’s history, but Davis could break that trend.
Davis finished this season with 78 catches for 1,408 yards and 15 touchdowns, he’s athletic and an overall impressive receiver. He could very well fill the hole that the Ravens offense has had for so long: a number one, top caliber wide receiver.
It’s doubtful that Davis would fall to the second round, but it’s possible, and he’d be an incredible value there. But even at number 16, he’s worth a grab (unless Mike Williams magically falls that far, which is doubtful).
