3. June 7: Kansas City Royals 1, Baltimore Orioles 9

There has been a little bit of animosity between the Baltimore Orioles and Kansas City Royals ever since their playoff match-up in 2014, featuring a lot of trash talk from the KC squad.

The Orioles scored four runs in the first of Yordano Ventura, who was out of sorts from the start.

Ubaldo Jimenez opposed him and consistently worked his way out of trouble all game long for the O’s.

Words were exchanged between Machado and Ventura after Manny’s at-bat in the second inning, in which Ventura threw very close to Manny’s head, and Manny thought he might have hit a home run. In the inning. Ryan Flaherty did homer, his first of the year.

Then in the fifth, it all broke loose. Ventura drilled Machado with a 99-mph first-pitch fastball, and Manny immediately charged the mound, landing a punch to the head of Ventura. Both were ejected and later suspended for their role in the melee.

Then, the power display started. After the fight, Mark Trumbo, the next batter, hit a home run, and Chris Davis went long on the very next pitch. The crowd was electric, and Adam Jones would add another in the sixth, leading to the final tally of 9-1.
