Indiana @ Maryland (Tue, Jan 10, 9:00 PM ET on ESPN)

Storylines

Landing at No. 11 in the AP Top 25 preseason rankings, Indiana has had its fair share of ups and downs this season. Indiana opened the season with a crucial overtime victory against Kansas who at the time was the No. 3 team in the nation. The Hoosiers were as high as No. 3 in the week three edition of the AP Poll. Things came crashing down when Fort Wayne knocked off Indiana in overtime in the upset of the year. Mid-major powerhouse, Butler handed Indiana their second loss of the season in a top 25 showdown.

Maryland suffered a blowout defeat on Indiana’s court, 80-62, last season as the Hoosiers secured the B1G Ten title and an undefeated record at home for the first time since 1992-93. Fortunately for Maryland, their lone matchup against Indiana this season will be played at the friendly confines of the XFINITY Center.

Players to Watch

Indiana has a group of players averaging at least 12 points per game including junior James Blackmon Jr. (18.5), guard Robert Johnson (13.8), sophomore OG Anunoby (12.0), and center Thomas Bryant (12.0).

Blackmon Jr. and Johnson combined for 44 points last week in a win over Austin Peay, and Indiana as a team shot 57.7 percent (15-26) from beyond the arc. Sophomore Bryant is one of the most dynamic centers in the country that can connect from three-point range and is averaging 12.3 points over the last two weeks.

Bottom Line

It’ll be interesting to see how Maryland fared against three B1G Ten teams before their game with Indiana. If all things go right for Maryland, they could be riding high on an eight-game winning streak going into the contest. At home, in front of Terp Nation, Maryland will have a prominent opportunity to attain a signature victory and a resume booster.
