4. Jomar Reyes – 3B

The Baltimore Orioles signed Jomar Reyes out of the Domincan Republic when he was just 16 years old. Now a 19-year-old, Reyes has shown some good development and some solid potential.

Reyes is a big dude. At 6’2″. 220 lbs, Reyes looks more like a tight end than a third baseman. He delivers some solid power on the right side of the plate, though much of that power has translated into doubles during his young career. However it’s pretty likely that, as Reyes develops, his power will too, and many of those doubles will turn into home runs.

From a defensive perspective, Reyes is alright. He’s got an incredible arm, but his lack of speed would limit his range as a third baseman. If that doesn’t improve, it’s possible that he could be moved to first base eventually, though I wouldn’t be shocked if that arm was seen as useful in the outfield.

Again, Reyes is still very young, so we’re not going to see him for awhile, and there’s still some development to be done, but the talent is definitely there. We’ll likely not see Reyes come up until 2018 or 2019, depending on how quickly he develops his bat.
